The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Brush Police Department and Fort Morgan Police Department are conducting a joint investigation. All of these cases appear to be one continuous episode. Reports of stolen vehicles and investigations into those reports by multiple area law enforcement agencies lead to at least two arrests so far, according to a news release. Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputies pursued the vehicle west on I-76 traveling at 130 mph. A 9mm handgun was recovered from the wrecked vehicle. At approximately mile marker 141 on Highway 34 (about 3 miles into Weld County), the driver lost control of the Dodge Charger and went off the roadway. At approximately 10:38 a.m. Wednesday, Fort Morgan Police Department officers found the blue Chevrolet pickup with Texas plates abandoned at the Rodeway Inn in Fort Morgan. Sheriff’s deputies captured one of the suspects at the scene of the crash. “After being placed in custody, Mier was able to slip a handcuff and attempted to flee from officers,” the release stated.
